SPRING 2
Our Geography topic is 'Living in Extreme Environments'. Please see the knowledge organiser below to find out the key things we are learning this term. |
English Our first book focus this half-term is ‘How to Survive Anywhere’ by Ben Irwell. It is a non-fiction explanation text which we will be using to inspire us to write our own versions. It is linked to our geography topic, ‘Living in Extreme Environments’.
The second book which we will be reading is ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ by Michael Morpurgo. We will be writing a story excerpt, in the 1st person.
We will also continue to do our daily whole class reading sessions, daily spelling sessions and a weekly handwriting focus session. |
Maths This half term, we will focus on decimals and percentages, then measure – perimeter and area. We also complete a daily times tables test, as well as daily arithmetic questions. |
Science Our topic this half-term is ‘Living Things and their Habitats’. We will be learning about plant reproduction as well as the life cycles of different animals, including chickens! We will have the wonderful opportunity of watching the eggs hatch and observe the development of the chicks from birth, to at least a week old. |
RE This half-term, our big question is ‘Creation and Science: conflicting or complementary?’ |
Art We are super excited this half-term to be doing a topic on ‘Painting and Mixed Media’. We will be producing portraits using our new art skills. |
French We will be learning how to talk about the weather in French. |
Other Subjects PSHE This half-term, our PSHE topic is ‘Healthy Me’.
Computing We will complete our Databases topic before embarking on our next topic all about Programming. We will learn how we can control a simple circuit connected to a computer and how to write a programme to control a component.
Music We will continue to learn how to play the ukulele, playing melodies as well as practising the chords we know already. |
