Mrs Stott (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), Mrs Breed (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) and Mrs Vaughan help the children in Year 5 with their learning.

We would like to bring to your attention some key dates for your diary:

1) Wednesday 11th September (2.45pm) we would like to invite you to a 'meet the teachers' meeting where we will introduce ourselves to you in person and tell you about some of the exciting things your children will be doing in year 5.

2) Wednesday 2nd October, we have a trip planned to the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Manchester. This trip is an integral part of our history topic on the Industrial Revolution. A letter with more details will follow soon.

3)  Wednesday 9th October, we will be participating in the Harvest Service.

4) Wednesday 16th October, we have a trip scheduled to Park Bridge, which again ties in with our study of the Industrial Revolution.

Things to bring to school

Every day:  reading diary and reading book

Monday – Completed homework

Wednesday - PE kit (PE kit is a white t-shirt and blue or black shorts)

Homework

Please note that some homework tasks will be set online this year. We will soon be sending out forms for you to sign which will allow the children to bring home their iPads. Once the forms are completed, homework will be set every Monday and the children will have a week to complete the tasks. Homework will be checked every Monday, with spelling tests taking place on Fridays. There are 4 pieces of homework to be completed:

1) A maths task on a website called 'Learning by Questions'. Your child's login details will be provided in their homework diary.

2) A 20-minute reading task on a website called 'Reading Plus', again with login details in their diary.

3) Weekly spellings to learn for a test every Friday

4) Regular reading of their school reading book with a grown-up at least three times a week.
