Our School Prayer and Worship

At St. James’ Church of England Primary School worship is an important and special part of the day, which aims to be more than a secular activity. Not only is it educational but it is stimulating the possibility of a person's inward reflection which can lead them to the development of an outward and open lifestyle, one in which they live generously with others. The main aim of collective worship at St. James’ Church of England Primary School is for it to be meaningful and relevant to all pupils and staff, for those with a faith background and those with none.

At St James' we recognise the power of prayer and the comfort it brings.  It is a time of quiet contemplation, a time to ask for forgiveness, a time of peace and a time to reflect and be thankful.  We respect the diversity in our school community and invite all to join in prayer in a way they feel comfortable.

Our School Prayer

Dear God,

We are grateful for all the things we have.

O Lord hear my prayer

You give us so much, our families, our friends, our school and our education.

O Lord hear my prayer

Please help the people who are less fortunate and those that do not have an education.

When I call answer me

Let us give thanks to God for the kindness and love in our school.

O Lord hear my prayer

Help us to respect each other no matter who they are and where they come from, and to treat people how they would like to be treated.

 O Lord hear my prayer

We are sorry for all the wrongs that we have ever done. Give us the determination to choose the right path to achieve and fulfil our dreams.

Come and listen to me

O Lord hear my prayer, O Lord hear my prayer, When I call, answer me.

O Lord hear my prayer, O Lord hear my prayer, Come and listen to me.
